Featured Community: Driftwood
The neighborhood, bounded by 24th Avenue SE and Driftwood Road S, from Florida Avenue S to Beach Drive SE, is tucked away behind an arched metal sign that bears its name. Teeming with untamed wildlife (it’s a favorite of night herons), Driftwood was the first neighborhood in the City during the 1900’s building boom. It features unique homes (architectural styles include Queen Anne, Victorian, Colonial Revival, Spanish Eclectic, Craftsman Bungalows, Prairie and Italianate), within a dense growth of abundant oak trees and wild vegetation. This tiny quaint, stable neighborhood is home to artists, professors and other independent-minded folk who embrace its natural beauty.
