The December non-profit spotlight shines brightly on The First Tee of St. Petersburg whose mission is to impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.
First Tee has seven core programs: Target Clinics, Par/Birdie Practice and Play – After School,
Par/Birdie Practice and Play – Weekend Program, Summer Program, Middle School Program, Outreach Program and Life Skills Curriculum.
Of particular interest is the First Tee Outreach Program which was designed to travel into the community to provide all children, regardless of social and economic background, the opportunity to learn golf. Its objective is to ensure fair access to all, including those children with special needs.

Volunteering opportunities abound. According to First Tee, coaches play a key role in creating positive relationships that inspire young people to look into their future, set goals and discover their individual potential.
