Real Estate Tips and Trends… Downtown St. Petersburg’s Changing Landscape
Two weeks ago the Tampa Bay Tribune and the Tampa Bay Times published a story titled, 41-story condo planned for prime downtown St. Pete property. Developer of the project is the Kolter Group of West Palm Beach.
To say the article created a buzz is an understatement. Tentatively named Tropicana Block, the 800,000 sq. ft. proposal includes a 456-foot high tower with 253 condo units sitting atop 15,000 sq. ft. of street level retail stores and eateries. It would be adjoined by parking garages to a 152,000 sq. ft. hotel with 174 rooms.
According to Brian Van Styke, a development executive with Kolter, sales records show there is still a strong demand for condos. “It’s a growing, thriving community and a lot of people are attracted to it{St. Petersburg}as a place to live, as well as a destination and weekend travel. He said his company firmly believes in St. Petersburg’s current and long-term growth.
